Marc Blumenthal will be speaking on "Franchise Laws: Different Types and How They Affect Different Industries"
Franchise businesses and franchise law impacts much of the small business world - from owners and operators to suppliers and landlords. Please join us as Marc explains the various impacts of franchise law.

Recognized in Illinois Super Lawyers in 2007 and for 2012-2020 under the category Franchise/Dealership, Marc has been practicing law and advising clients since 1981. He specializes in franchise and trademark law and also practices corporate, leasing and copyright/entertainment law. Marc has also served as an expert witness and consultant in franchise law, has authored and co-authored articles, and has spoken on many franchise topics. He divides his practice between litigation, transactional and disclosure work, and trademark prosecution. Marc has argued cases in franchise law in the Illinois Supreme Court, and federal courts including the 9th Circuit. Marc has represented franchisors, franchisees, area developers, dealers and other types of distribution businesses. Marc is one of the advisory board members for the Illinois Attorney General Franchise Advisory Board, an active board member in other non-profit organizations, including two that offer CLE credit for its courses. Marc was one of the first SBAC board members, beginning his participation on the board in 2010. He is involved in one tech and one non-tech start-up. He received both his B.A. in Political Science and his Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University, and spent one semester in Jerusalem with Brandeis University's Jacob Hiatt Institute in 1973. Marc and his wife Sharon live in Skokie.
