Build your lawyer network with the SBAC! Don’t miss this month’s Lawyers Community Luncheon where we will have Kerry Miller, the Director of Professional Responsibility at Baker & McKenzie International, present a course entitled Ethical Issues in the Practice of Law for 1 hour of Professional Responsibility CLE credit. The course will focus on understanding Current Client Conflicts (defining directly adverse, material limitation conflicts, waivers/consent), Former Client Conflicts (defining substantially related, when is a client a “former” client?), Duties to Prospective Clients (confidentiality and conflicts), Imputation Risks for Small Firms and Sole Practitioners, and will discuss three recent ethics opinions that impact lawyers in the digital age - ABA Formal Opinion 480 (client confidentiality and blogging), ABA Formal Opinion 477 (securing communication of protected client information) and ABA Formal Opinion 483 (lawyer duties in data breach).
These gatherings provide a wonderful opportunity for SBAC attorneys to meet, connect and learn about each other's practices. If you are not an SBAC member, please join us to learn more about the organization and this community. To receive Community updates and event invitations, click here.
